PRP – Stem Cell Treatment
Health Travel International is one very few hair transplantation specialists now offering stem cell treatment to our FUE hair transplantation patients.
PRP (PRP) therapy is an exciting new technology which when used in conjunction with FUE hair transplantation, encourages further hair growth and stimulation.
What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma is a process where a patient’s blood is drawn, separated and concentrated through a process called centrifugation, and re-injected into desired areas of the body. In cases of hair transplantation, the grafts are also bathed in PRP solution before implantation. The PRP process concentrates useful cellular components of the blood and injects them into areas where the body can utilise the additional resources.
How does PRP work?
PRP is a biological therapy. Prepared plasma is richer in platelets than normal blood. The plasma contain growth factors which have significant positive effects on hair growth. The platelet growth factors induce follicle stem cells to shift from a dormant state to an active state which starts the process of hair production. The platelet growth factors can “wake up” dormant hair follicles and begin the production of new hair. So this therapy gives strength to the existing hair, reduces hair loss and is likely to increase the actual number and quality of hairs by stimulating the stem cells.
PRP technology has three functional roles when used in conjunction with hair transplantation treatment:
- To preserve and enhance hair follicle viability during and after hair transplantation
- To promote and enhance tissue repair and healing after hair transplantation
- To reinvigorate dormant hair follicles and stimulate new hair growth
